About The Investment Habit

The boring parts, done for thirty years

Last updated August 13, 2026

The Investment Habit is an independent publication about getting started and everything next to it. It exists because the useful version of this subject is usually the one nobody has time to write.

Our house style is calm, long-horizon, allergic to stock tips. We would rather publish one piece that holds up than five that fill a schedule.

What we cover

The site is organised into 6 sections:

  • Getting Started — Accounts, first contributions and the decisions that only need making once.
  • Funds & Trackers — Index funds, diversification and reading a fact sheet properly.
  • Costs — Charges, spreads and the one variable in investing you can actually control.
  • Behaviour — Selling in a fall, chasing returns, and the habits that cost the most.
  • Risk & Allocation — Time horizon, capacity for loss and what a portfolio is actually for.
  • Drawing an Income — Withdrawal, dividends and turning a pot back into money to live on.

Who writes it

Every article carries a named writer with a profile page, and nothing is published anonymously. You can see the full list on our writers page.

How it is funded

We are advertising-funded and independently owned. No advertiser sees an article before publication, and none has ever been offered the chance. See the editorial policy.

Who publishes it

The Investment Habit is published by Longview Investing Journal, a sole proprietorship of Sakshi Arora, House 88, Patel Nagar, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, 248001, India. Telephone: +91 97174 59480.
